Hello you - I'm Laura (she/her). That's me in the picture living my best life - as the big smile and scrunched up nose proves! I've been a qualified wedding celebrant since 2019 and I love every minute of it! I'm now officially a double award winning celebrant after I won The Wedding Industry Awards 'West Midlands Wedding Celebrant Of The Year 2025' and I also won Cotswolds Weddings 'Best Celebrant In The Cotswolds' two weeks later! What a result!!
I’ve had the honour of getting to know some incredible couples and I’ve worked all over the UK (and Europe) creating dream wedding ceremonies, vow renewals and naming ceremonies. I live in between Stratford Upon Avon and The Cotswolds, with my husband Johnathan, our two gorgeous boys and Betty and Barney the cockapoos! Yes, my hands are full but so is my heart! When we got married in 2019 I knew I wanted to work in the wedding industry - being paid to be a part of one of the happiest days of people's lives - what’s not to love?! I’m not organised enough to be a planner, I’m too clumsy to be a florist and I’m rubbish at ‘angles’ so I’d be a terrible photographer! BUT what I am great at is being your biggest cheerleader, celebrating YOU and sharing your love story with all of your family and friends! Jodie & Ollie’s beautiful summer wedding took place at Ollie’s family home, a place full of memories and where so many special milestones have been celebrated over the years.
.
Their day began in the sun-drenched walled garden, surrounded by wisteria and all their favourite people. The ceremony was filled with so much love and laughter, we shared the story of their decade together so far, they had 3 readings from close family and friends, Jodie’s brother as ring bearer, and their dog Rufus completely stole the show! Not only did he join Ollie’s sister for one of the readings - ‘What I Learned About Love, I Learned From My Dog’, he also let out the loudest bark the moment he spotted his mum walking down the aisle 🐾

The smiles didn’t leave their faces all day and can we take a moment for the beautiful bride - the dress, the bouquet, the sunglasses, iconic! 🧡🩷 It was the perfect relaxed and joyful summer wedding, full of colour and fun and being somewhere so meaningful made it even more special.

Venue teams - please let your couples know they have a choice for their ceremony and let them make the decision that feels right for them 🙏🏼

Once they’ve paid deposits it can be really difficult for them to get their money transferred or refunded if they do in fact want a celebrant instead of a registrar. It would be great if we can raise awareness of all of the ceremony options so people can make an informed decision.

I never get over the feeling of pressing send on a ceremony script, it’s a mixture of nerves and excitement, hoping they love it and waiting to hear how it makes them feel! So of course getting messages like these makes my heart sing!! 💖

A lot of the time, reading your script together makes you feel even more excited for the wedding ceremony and makes it feel so ‘real’ so I like to recommend sitting down with a glass or something and reading it aloud together.
.
As a celebrant, every ceremony I write is bespoke for each couple, because that is what truly brings it to life, it’s your wedding day so it should sound and feel like you.

Seriously though, if you have spent the last two weeks trying to answer emails, keep small humans entertained, stay present on social media, feed little mouths, be on client calls, be a present parent, answer enquiries, create a magical Easter, and actually do your job while ‘soaking up every minute because they grow up fast’ then hats off because the juggle is SO real! 🫶🏼

But as tough as it’s been, I wouldn’t change it for the world, because ‘Mummy’ and ‘Businesswomen’ are two of my favourite titles and I’m SO lucky that they can work together side by side 🩷

I can guarantee that I get asked this question on every wedding day - “oh is that you done now then? That’s a nice job isn’t it?! You can just do the ceremony and go home!”

Of course it is an absolute privilege to play a small part in people’s wedding days, and it is wonderful that we get to share that incredible moment with you and your guests, but the truth is the wedding day is the beautiful finish line after the ceremony marathon!!
.
What you see on the day is just a very small part of what we do, and I spend at least 20-30 hours if not more, on each ceremony I write. From the initial consultation, to the questionnaires, ceremony meetings, script writing, site visits, emails, phone calls, rehearsals, the list goes on - there is a lot more involved than you think.
.
So yes those guests are right, it is a nice job, in fact it’s one of the best jobs in the world and I feel honoured to be able to create and conduct these ceremonies for my couples but if you think that we just ‘rock up for half an hour’ and then call it a day, you are very much mistaken!
.
I know I am guilty of sharing so many beautiful snippets from weddings and perhaps not enough of the reality behind the role so I hope this gives you more of an insight to what’s truly involved! 🫶🏼

Ok I know this sounds crazy but I swear this works! ☀️

Apparently if you bury a sausage the night before the wedding you’ll get sunshine on your wedding day! I first heard about this in 2024 and it was one of the hottest wedding seasons I’ve had in my whole celebrant career!
.
The question is… do you bury a raw sausage or a cooked one? And does it matter where you bury it? Should it be at your venue or your home?
.
I was chatting to one of my brides for this weekend about it so I wanted to share this to prove I’m not crazy! 😅 It’s one of those things that you don’t know if it’ll work or not but I guess what have you got to lose? Apart from one less banger with your mash of course!

We wish this was an April Fools joke, but sadly it’s not!

Two celebrants; both suspended from Instagram within days of each other, and both lost everything we worked SO hard to create.
.
Little setbacks like this are huge for small businesses like ours and @proudfoxceremonies and I have been on an emotional rollercoaster together these last few weeks! But by supporting each other and working together, we’ve turned shock, panic and anxiety into resilience, determination and focus. We’ve decided to start again completely from scratch. New accounts - same celebrant magic, only this time bigger, better and even more committed! 💫
.
Let this be a reminder to you, especially if you’re running a small business, that setbacks might happen but you DON’T have to give up, use them as an opportunity to learn, grow and comeback stronger than before! 💪🏼

I love this idea! 💍 It’s always such a great ice breaker among the guests and the photos are brilliant.

If you can’t choose who you want to be your ring bearer, why not leave it up to fate? Before the ceremony I will hide the rings under 1 or 2 random seats and then just before the ring exchange I’ll invite your guests to feel under their chairs and see if they are ‘the chosen one’ ✨
.
You can do this in a number of different ways and if you don’t want to leave it completely up to fate, you can always narrow it down to a shortlist or even choose the person but leave it as a surprise for them.
.

Hannah and Alex had so much fun with their ceremony but they always kept the focus on what was important to them. We told their love story, had two readings including a religious one from Hannah’s sister, they wrote personal vows to each other and we even played Rock, Paper, Scissors to decide who would go first! It was so perfect and so perfectly ‘them’. 🫶🏼

Knowing that they loved it is one thing, but knowing their guests loved it too is the icing on the cake!
